GNP Crescendo Records Stereo 1972 "Sealed"
Make Mine Manzanilla is generally regarded as the lesser of Ray Davies' two US-only albums under a new moniker. I concur with this viewpoint but feel that the LP has a number of highlights - particularly on the first side - and is certainly worth investigating. The harder edge displayed throughout the previous album The Manzanilla Sound is clearly evident here with a focus on bass, organ, drums and grooves rather than the reliance on brass which was such a feature of his 1967 - 1970 LPs.
