Millie Jackson - For Men Only
[SP-1 6727]

Polydor / Spring Records Stereo 1980

From all the Millie Jackson albums that I've listened to, "For Men Only" is definitely her second best, only marginally outperformed by "Caught Up/Still Caught Up". There is hardly a weak moment on "For Men Only". Millie's unique deep, powerful voice is mesmerizing, giving you the chills at times (eg. on "This is it"), and the giggles at others ("This is were I came in" is hilarious husband bashing, but not as vulgar as in her later records).Although quite different in style, Gladys Knight and Millie Jackson are my favorite female soul singers. They don't make them like this anymore, or do they? By Marcel Wild.
