CD (Item 45030) Universal (France), 1956 -- Condition: Mint
Excellent Parisian work by Lionel Hampton -- recorded during a very fruitful year in France, featuring material that was originally issued on a full LP, and a 10" ep. Most of the tracks feature a group that includes Eddie Chamblee on tenor, Ed Mullens on trumpet, Billy Mackel on guitar, and Jean-Claude Pelletier on piano -- even though Hamp plays piano too, as well as his standard vibes, and even manages to sing a bit too! Tracks have a long, open-ended groove -- similar to his best jamming 50s work from the US -- and titles include "Regina's Drag", "Blues For Monique", "Jammin On High Society", and "Lullaby Of Birdland".
