VeeJay Records Stereo 1960
One of John Lee Hooker's best, and an essential blues classic. Also known as the "No Shoes" album, the set was originally released in 1960. Here we have Hooker recorded in a special time in his career right in between the time that R&B labels had been milking him for a different recording every month, and before his later period when the folk and the folk blues revivals also got him in to do one recording it seemed every week. Instead the Vee Jay label spent a bit of money on the recording, giving Hooker enough studio time to get all the songs just right.
