Classic Records / RCA Victor Audiophile Re-Issue 180gr
Is this the definitive version of the piece? Well, considering that RCA's roster of classical musicians was legendary in the Golden Era of recording in which this performance was recorded, we can say it is at least, in the handful of the best. Add to that, being a good friend and collaborator of Heifetz, Piatigorsky always felt a personal if somewhat romantic attachment to Dvorak's famed Cello concerto. Recorded in 1959 directly to three track with Munch conducting the BSO, the sound is as stellar as the performance. Cut from the original 3-track master by Bernie Grundman, this title issued on the conventional 180g profile, is this a must have? - yes unless you only listen to original 1S compressed versions of RCA Living Stereo's - you know who you are....
