From the late 1950s through the early 1960s, Connie Francis, born Constance Franconero, was one of the most popular female singers in America with hits including "Who's Sorry Now?", "Stupid Cupid", and "Everybody's Somebody's Fool". In 1960, she debuted in the youth-oriented film Where the Boys Are, the title song providing her with another hit. She appeared in three similar films through 1965. In 1984 Francis released her autobiography, Who's Sorry Now, wherein she candidly discusses her career ups and downs and reveals the details of her emotional despondence following her brother's murder and her own vicious rape in 1974. Connie Francis continued to perform on concert tours even into the early 1990s.
