London Records Phase 4 Stereo 1969 In their second pairing, Ros and Valente tackle more mainstream material in a more subdued mood, typified by a quavering, introspective rendition of "The Fool on the Hill." The most (or only) sensational track is a rumba arrangement of "Be In (Hare Krishna)" from the musical Hair. This duet sung in English is outshined only by Ros' vocal version in his subsequent solo album. "La Bamba" is sung in Spanish, thankfully, and it is a delight to hear Valente sing Walter Wanderly's smash, "Summer Samba." As on their first album together, the pair make a wordless "la la la" duet out of "O Meu Violao." "Canto de Ossanha" is a fairly slick samba, leading one to wonder what a pairing of Sergio Mendes and Valente might might have accomplished. ~ Tony Wilds, All Music Guide Side 1.
